Foot Care Tips That You Should Follow

It’s not always about wearing fashionable boots, stilettoes, pumps and wedge shoes, but also about taking adequate care of your feet. When you start taking proper care of your feet, you will notice that it does look healthy and pretty with any shoes that you wear.

Remember that your foot is responsible for taking the weight of your whole body. Thus it has to go through a lot. Your feet are also the only body part that’s susceptible to injuries, infections and fatigue. Therefore, you really need to put in the effort to keep it in good shape and health.

Going to beauty salons sound like a great idea, but they can be pretty expensive sometimes. So, grab your pen and paper as we pinpoint some of the best home remedies for taking care of your feet daily.

  1. Wash Your Feet Every Single Day:

We can never emphasize how important it is for you to wash your feet every day because that’s the part that becomes the dirtiest. Make it to the point of washing your feet at least two times a day; once before leaving your home and when at the end the day. Use an antiseptic soap or mild soap and lukewarm water to remove all the dirt, sweat and bacteria that may be present on your feet.

Keep in mind, never to use boiling hot warm or hard water. They strip the natural oils from your skin and make it prone to fugly cracks. Use a soft towel to dry out your feet afterwards. Possibly, keep a separate towel for your feet.

  1. Exfoliate Two Times a Week:

What keeps the skin of your feet soft and smooth is regularly exfoliating them. Get rid of unnecessary dead skin cells with regular scrubbing. Regular scrubbing decreases the risk of having corns and calluses.

You can even use a pumice stone if you have excessive dead skin cells. However, before doing so, make sure to soak your feet at least 10 minutes. This softens the skin cells and makes it easier to get rid of them.

You can even make homemade foot scrubs by using sugar/salt and baby oil to make a paste and massage it all over your feet in a circular motion for no less than 5 minutes. Rinse off when you are done, and pat dries your feet. Afterwards, don’t forget to apply a moisturizing foot cream.

If you keep repeating this at least twice a week, you will get excellent results.

  1. Keep Your Feet Moisturized:

You may have oily skin, but surely, your feet are dehydrated. Therefore, it’s highly relevant to apply a high-quality foot moisturizer at least several times a day. Needless to say, it’s essential before you hit the bed.

Rub it nicely all over from top to bottom of your feet, not skipping the toes. Make it a habit of rubbing moisturizer before going to bed. If possible, massage your feet gently for 10 minutes in circular motions. This has got a lot of health benefits associated with it too.

You can also go for other products like olive oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter. It helps to moisten your feet from within deeply. In a case, if you are using oil, warm it a little so that it can absorb in your skin quickly.

  1. Wear Well Fitting Shoes:

This is something that most of us neglect. Whether you stay at home or sit at your work desk for the whole day, it’s fundamental for you to wear well-fitting, comfortable shoes than fashionable ones. It will work better to relieve you from discomfort and will not restrict your movement.

Imperfectly fitting shoes such as the ones that are too small could cause pain, blisters and corns while walking. Even the ones that are more significant increases your chance of falling.

When choosing the right pair of shoes:

  • Always choose breathable materials for your feet and a shape that moulds well to the shape of your foot.
  • Always keep different pairs of shoes that would cater to different needs.
  • Never buy shoes that would make your feet feel hotter and cause fungal infection and foot odour.
  • When you go to different shops to buy shoes, always wear socks or hosiery so that the germs do not transfer to your feet.
  • Avoid wearing high heels and pointed shoes for longer durations.
  • Also, don’t wear flip-flops for too long as they don’t provide adequate support for your feet and thus causes arch and heel pain.

  1. Soak Your Foot In Water Often:

Take some time out of your busy schedule to relax with the foot soaking method. Rest assured that it will keep your feet soft, clean and luscious. Moreover, it will alleviate stress, relax your body and mind and eliminate those fugly foot odour and harmful toxins from your body.

Ever heard of Epsom salt? This is perhaps the best solution for soaking your feet:

  • Add ½ a cup of Epson salt in a tub of lukewarm water.
  • Add some droplets of aromatic essential oil.
  • Soak your feet in the water for no more than 15 minutes.
  • Use a pumice stone to rub your heels and remove the ugly rough and dry skin.
  • Wash your feet with pat dry.
  • Don’t forget to apply lotion on your feet and wear socks to keep your feet soft and pampered.

Enjoy this technique at least once a week, and you will notice fruitful results.
