Friday 31st May 2019 Was the Last Day to Use BlackBerry Messenger

The last day you had the option to use Blackberry’s free messaging service accessible on Android, iOS and BlackBerry telephones is this Friday, 31st of May.

Emtek already shut down the services of BBM. The existing users can no more access their previous conversations, photos and any other data.

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), took off in 2005, two years before the first iPhone.
We all remember how BBM was the elite messaging service back then. BBM although could not keep with the technological advancements and stand strong as a competitive rival in the face of other messaging apps these days.

Although, it is not totally gone at once. BBMe will take over the service from BBM. Blackberry made the change to still hold on to its survival. BBMe is Blackberry’s enterprise-grade messaging service that provides similar functionality and encryption compared to its predecessor. Looks like it is a formality on the exterior in the excuse of a name change.

The problem is BBMe won’t be equivalent to BBM. It is a paid service from the second year charging US $2.5 for a half-yearly membership. Though the service charge is not too bad, but on an era of free high-end, user-friendly messaging services everywhere, would users still continue to use BBMe? Could BBMe compete with its rivals?
