Whether it is a job or a college interview, one-on-one meetings are always difficult to crack. Despite how qualified or heavy your resume is, your presentation on the interview steals the show. Your infectious smile can become your boon or your worn out shoes may turn out to be your bane. From interviews ranging from casual retail jobs to university teaching positions, basic interview tactics are pretty much same. And so are some basic mishaps.
Some of these “NOT TO WEAR” to an interview are discussed here.

As adequate it is to wear the perfect shoe to your interview, it is equally more vital to avoid shoes that make rattling noise when walking. This can be distracting to your interviewer.

Making a statement with unique piece of jewelry is definitely a smart choice but you have to be careful of not overstating it. Oversized earrings can be a visual interruption and so can be noisy jewelry like bangles that rattle.

Flip-flops or Slippers

Back to the shoe department again; avoid slippers at any cost. Even if you are giving a casual interview with no formal attire expected of you, it is always best to NOT wear flip-flops at an interview. This can indicate towards a lackluster personality trait about you.

Loose Clothes

Whether you’re spotting a shirt, dress or even a T-shirt, try to avoid loose-fitted clothes. Well-fitted clothes always beautify the body structure and make you look confident.

 Flashy Clothes

Yes, try to keep it “Less is more”. It is always wise to stay away from overtly flashy colors or materials of clothing that will give away too much. Remember it’s your personality and intellect that should do the talking, not your clothes majorly. Imagine wearing a gold satin shirt; who is going to really concentrate on what you say then?

Unclean Nails

Most of us pose a habit of speaking through hand gestures, which is quite a plus point when it comes to presenting yourself in an interview but with unclean fingernails, it becomes a nightmare. Well-manicured nails are very necessary when putting yourself out there for an interview.

I hope these DON’Ts will help you on what not to wear to your interview. And with what not to wear, you can fully concentrate on what to wear and what to do. Most importantly, wear your confidence like your cape and you will hopefully come out with flying colors.
