Super Easy 5-Step Skincare Routine That Has Unbelievable Results

This 5-step nighttime skincare routine for face is something I swear by once every week. It is quite easy to do and has an unbelievable result with glowing, smooth and soft skin. This skincare routine works amazingly well practiced once with maximum of twice every week. It is best applied at night because facemasks applied during the day can have harmful effects to skin as you can be exposed to the sun.

Step 1: Cleanse

It is vital to cleanse your face before you apply any mask or scrub, so cleanse your face using a face wash that you regularly use. Before cleansing your face, make sure you wash your hands and especially your nails thoroughly because your hands will do the rest of the job on your face. It is always best to use a face wash that suits all skin types or one that does not clog your pores.

Step 2: Exfoliate

After cleansing, pat your face dry with a towel. Dab your face with the towel lightly, please do not rub. Using a separate towel for your face really helps because your face is usually the most sensitive part of your body.

Now, use a facial scrub that specializes on exfoliating, to scrub your face. Massage your face with the fingertips gently. Do not scrub very harshly because this can lead to minor cuts on your face. You can buy these facial scrubs in stores. Apricot and green tea scrubs are particularly very good at exfoliating. After this, simply wash your face off with water.

Why is exfoliating important?

Exfoliating basically removes all the dead cells from your skin, revealing new smooth skin. Facial scrubs are one form of physical exfoliator, which means, you are scrubbing your face with your hands to remove the dead cells. These scrubs also open the facial pores widely, which will let your facemask blend in beautifully.

Step 3: Facemask

Now you can either towel dry your face again or just leave it a bit damp. It is time to apply a facemask. Depending on your skin type and need, use an appropriate mask for your face. You can either use readymade ones available in stores or make one at home.

If you need something to even your skin tone and texture, you can use a clay mask like the L’OREAL PARIS Pure Clay Bright Mask that will work on brightening your tone or a charcoal mask that will detoxify your face. If you suffer from too many blackheads, then you can use a mask that specializes in exfoliating.

Alternatively you can make homemade masks with gram flour, yogurt and honey. On the contrary, you can use cream based masks that hydrate your face and help soothe dry skin. If you are using a cream based mask that specialises on moisturizing, then you can skip Step 4 which might make your skin a bit oily.

Apply a thin layer of any of these masks and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water.

Step 4: Honey Mask

The next step is to apply this DIY mask. Mix 1tbsp of honey with half a lemon’s juice. Apply this liquid based mask on your face rubbing it over. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off. This lemon and honey mask fights acne and pimples and softens your face like magic. This also leaves your skin glowing like never before.

The lemon can turn out to be allergic for many so just try a little bit before applying it all over your face. If you are allergic to it, just apply plain honey, which does most of the job.

Step 5: Moisturize
